America. A Poem for July 4.<\/b><\/p>\n

O beautiful for spacious skies,<\/dd>\n
For amber waves of grain,<\/dd>\n
For purple mountain majesties<\/dd>\n
Above the enameled plain!<\/dd>\n
America! America!<\/dd>\n
God shed His grace on thee,<\/dd>\n
Till souls wax fair as earth and air<\/dd>\n
And music-hearted sea!<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n
\n
O beautiful for pilgrim feet<\/dd>\n
Whose stern, impassioned stress<\/dd>\n
A thoroughfare for freedom beat<\/dd>\n
Across the wilderness!<\/dd>\n
America! America!<\/dd>\n
God shed His grace on thee<\/dd>\n
Till paths be wrought through wilds of thought<\/dd>\n
By pilgrim foot and knee!<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n
\n
O beautiful for glory-tale<\/dd>\n
Of liberating strife,<\/dd>\n
When once or twice, for man’s avail,<\/dd>\n
Men lavished precious life!<\/dd>\n
America! America!<\/dd>\n
God shed His grace on thee<\/dd>\n
Till selfish gain no longer stain,<\/dd>\n
The banner of the free!<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n

O beautiful for patriot dream<\/dd>\n
That sees beyond the years<\/dd>\n
Thine alabaster cities gleam<\/dd>\n
Undimmed by human tears!<\/dd>\n
America! America!<\/dd>\n
God shed His grace on thee<\/dd>\n
Till nobler men keep once again<\/dd>\n
Thy whiter jubilee!<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n
